In 2004, girugamesh was formed by Satoshi, Nii, ShuU and Яyo. In their native Japan, the 're famous for their tough tour schedules both at home and abroad. Following their first European tour in 2008, the band started their national 38-stop “stupid tour '08” in Japan, culminating in their final show at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO selling out in just one minute.
Stopping just long enough to record their 2008 release "MUSIC," they embarked on their next tour right away. Starting their "CRAZY TOUR 08-09" in November 2008, the band visited every single prefecture (47 prefectures in total) in Japan, finishing with a sell-out performance in Tokyo's famous SHIBUYA AX.
The “CRAZY TOUR” continued in the United States and Europe in 2009, with a 2500-fan concert at Seattle, WA's Sakura-Con event, and over 7,000 fans in 7 countries turning out to see girugamesh’s performances in Europe. They completed touring in 2009 by performing for a crowd of 20,000 at the renown visual-kei event Jack In the Box Summer 2009 in their hometown of Chiba.
Also in 2009, girugamesh hit #1 on the Japanese indies chart with "ALIVE," one of three back-to-back singles leading up to the release of their December 2009 album "NOW." Designed to match the intense and dramatic style of their live shows, "NOW" is an perfect starting point for the band's new fans and a welcome return for fans who've waited over a year for this 12-song collection of take-no-prisoners Japanese rock.
